|About the Book|
I really tore through this. It was great seeing London again through the eyes of first time travellers. Id wanted to see Paris and Rome for myself and never made it, but now I feel Ive had a taste of it. This is definitely in diary form, and it does have its occasional editing mistakes, but nothing that detracts from the telling. I enjoyed it nearly to the end, where I was a bit put off by a bit of extended preachiness about the sanctity of a church and the rudeness of some mindless tourists. Even as a non-believer, I wholeheartedly agree, but the degree to which it was written was a bit over the top. I also felt sorry for the wife when toward the end of the holiday she became ill, but she faded so slowly for several chapters that I wished for her sake she could have gone home earlier. On a happy note, turns out she was not only ill, but also pregnant with their first child- so well done, you. Yes, definitely enjoyed reading this.
